Position Summary:

The Vice President of Maintenance and Repair is responsible for overseeing all aspects of TTI maintenance of container terminal equipment including crane, power shop, container/chassis, and related equipment. This VP reports to the CEO and works with the Executive Management Committee (EMC) to grow the company through the implementation and use of terminal equipment resources. The VP has the supervisory responsibility to lead and direct all employees in the maintenance and repair operation to attain TTI's strategic goals established by the EMC.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Directly responsible for the TTI Maintenance & Repair (M&R) managers, contractors, and union labor in all areas of maintenance operations, with the maintenance and repair focus of terminal quay cranes, RTG's, power shop, refrigerated containers, chassis, and other terminal facilities & equipment.

- Ensures that all critical preventative and corrective maintenance is being planned and completed in a timely and efficient manner.

- Maintains an effective and efficient procedure of real-time troubleshooting and repair of critical equipment; implements an effective communication process of equipment status with the operations team and work together to develop operational contingencies as necessary.

- Ensures the safe and clean working environment through the adherence to state and federal regulatory agencies such as OSHA and through the performance of frequent inspections of all equipment.

- Interfaces frequently with TTI technical and M&R vendors to ensure high level performance and productivity.

- Develop management systems and performance measurement dashboards to transparently track and report on performance.

- Provide strong leadership, develop and set individual and departmental performance goals and act as a change agent.

- Investigates and implements long-term cost savings solutions for areas of excessive repair requirements to maximize profitability of the terminal.

- Maintains a working and professional relationship with ILWU labor (including OCU), and be knowledgeable in labor contracts and grievance procedures.

- Perform other related duties as assigned by the CEO.

Requirements:

- BS/BA degree in a related field or at least 15 years of equivalent experience working in management with multi-state/operational responsibilities.

- Fifteen (15) years terminal operations, maintenance and repair, or mechanical engineering experience and must have knowledge in maintenance discipline, of ILWU Collective Bargaining Agreements and Safety contract.

- Experience in the implementation of marine terminal technology in a union environment including in depth knowledge of union grievance machinery procedures.

- Knowledge of terminal operations and stevedore operations.

- Experience with related union contracts and managing labor.

- Knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulations, and related industry governmental regulations.

- Minimum five (5) years working experience with crane AC and DC drives, including trouble-shooting, diagnosis and analysis.

- Minimum five (5) years working experience with container cranes PLC and control systems, including trouble-shooting and program logics.

- Prior hands-on experience with container crane commissioning.

- Prior experience using CMMS or other computer-based maintenance system and knowledge or prior experience with Lean Six Sigma methodology is strongly preferred.

- Prior practical experience with standard crane specification and configuration from OEMs, ZPMC focus and knowledge is strongly preferred.

- TWIC Card: You will be required to apply for a TWIC (Transportation Worker's Identification Card) through DHS prior to your start date. Failure to receive DHS approval, acquire, or renew a TWIC card may result in the termination of employment.
